Losing a tooth to severe tooth decay, dental avulsion or a severe dental fracture that required extraction can significantly impact the function of your mouth. This could include a decreased ability to chew, changes in the appearance of your smile, and problems with the clarity of your speech. Without some form of dental restoration, it could also lead to orthodontic issues, dental fractures, and dental attrition problems with the affected teeth in your bite pattern.

To address a problem of this magnitude, Dr. Stephen Kwitnicki might recommend a dental bridge.

This is a relatively common dental restoration solution that represents three teeth. There are dental crowns on each end that are anchored atop abutments that are formed from the neighboring teeth. There is a false tooth in between the crowns.

Dr. Stephen Kwitnicki will form the abutments by removing the tooth enamel from the two closest teeth. A detailed impression will be created of the abutments as well as the related teeth in your personal bite pattern. This will be sent to our dental lab where your new bridge will be made.

Temporary crowns will then be cemented over each abutment to protect them while the dental lab technician works to produce the new bridge.

A team member at our dental office will call you in for a brief second appointment when your bridge is ready. The temporary crowns will be removed and your new bridge will be cemented over the two abutments.

If you live in the Union, New Jersey, area and you’re interested in restoring a tooth with a dental bridge, you should call 908-516-2906 to set up a consultation appointment with Dr. Stephen Kwitnicki.
